Environment variables
These are the environment variables that easysync reads. A command-line option always wins over a variable, and a variable over config.toml.
Secrets are never read from the environment: pairing codes and relay access tokens come from a prompt, standard input or a file.
| Variable | Where it counts | Values | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
EASYSYNC_KEY_STORE | command line, daemon, desktop app | os or file | Selects the key store. The command-line option --keystore wins over it, it wins over config.toml. There is no probing and no fallback. |
EASYSYNC_PIPE_SUFFIX | Windows: command line, daemon, desktop app | 1 to 32 characters of A-Z a-z 0-9 _ - | Appended to the name of the local IPC pipe, so that a second engine of the same user can run side by side. It selects a name only; the access checks are unchanged. |
RUST_LOG | command line, daemon, relay | a tracing filter, for example warn or info | The log filter of the programs (tracing-subscriber). Secrets, pairing codes and clipboard text are never logged at any level. This is a variable of the Rust ecosystem, not of easysync. |
A relay forwards encrypted data. It does see IP addresses, timing and volume of the connections that use it: what the relay sees.
